Tutors are professors, corporate executives or ESSEC alumni. They form a network of 200 people managed by the Assessment Center who oversee the validation process of student professional experience during the curriculum.

Tutoring consists in helping students to check their acquisition of skills on a regular basis. Tutors help students think through their professional goals and coach them to help solve problem situations. They help students find the personal and information resources best adapted to their needs.

The Assessment Center (CVEP - Centre de Validation des Expériences Professionnelles) has tools and methods for evaluating the professional experience of students during their program. Every year, it organizes a Development Day, where students exchange information about their experiences in the workplace. CVEP assistants and those of the Apprenticeship Training Center play an important role interfacing between students and tutors to manage the process of professional experience credits.

 Meeting the companies 

Tutors validate student professional experience by validating the content of the internship, by checking the managerial skills and techniques acquired during work experience, and by setting goals for progression. They are responsible for attributing the professional experience credits required for graduation (1 professional experience credit corresponds to 3 months of validated professional experience – 6 professional experience credits are required to graduate).

 The ESSEC MBA curriculum 

This requirement concerns both French and foreign students, whether admitted through the contest or on the basis of a prior degree. Certain experience acquired before the ESSEC MBA may be validated by the Assessment Center – up to five credits for professional experience at the most (15 months).

Experience that was obligatory during the student’s previous programs, if it corresponds to the criteria established by ESSEC, is systematically validated after examination of the student’s file. Other cases are submitted to an evaluation commission.
