ESSEC MBA: student testimonial

ESSEC MBA students are part of the richness of this program. Their aspirations, talent and openness of mind seem to have found in the ESSEC MBA an environment and proximity to companies that give them wings!

Camille de Laroullière, 24, class of 2004

In choosing the ESSEC MBA, Camille thought she was making a clever move towards marketing luxury brands. But the international environment at the School and the complementary nature of courses made it possible for her to open other doors … happily so!

What did you study before coming to ESSEC?

Before ESSEC, I studied four years at the University of Paris-IX Dauphine. I got a two-year degree in Applied Management and Economics, then I went for management. I did an MSG (Master’s in Management Science), a two-year program. During our last year we had to choose a major: I opted for Marketing. I wanted to work in the luxury sector. I did an internship at Christofle between my two years of the master’s and this confirmed my goals.

What criteria led you to the ESSEC MBA?

It so happens that the ESSEC MBA has the LVMH Chair as part of its curriculum, and it specializes in luxury brand marketing. I found my university training a bit too exclusively theoretical and French. At ESSEC, we have direct contacts with companies, so we meet many professionals and learn from foreign students and professors. Last, the chance to choose my courses meant I would get a complementary education and not a repetition of past courses.

What are your career goals?

ESSEC has really changed my career plans. Before coming here, I saw myself working in France in the luxury sector. Today, after extensive experience with consumer goods, I have finally decided to go for marketing consumer goods. Working abroad is also part of my project. In fact, I will soon leave for a university exchange in Mexico. With both English and Spanish as my assets, I hope to increase my chances of working as an expatriate!
